Singu
Chuli ( 6, 501m. )
Singu Chuli, an attractive mountain for
climbing, is also known as Fluted Peak. The mountain can be seen from Annapurna South base
camp but the better shape of the mountain with pointed ridge of snow and ice is seen from
the moraines above the lodges. The mountain can be approached from several routes:
North-East Face, South Ridge, South Face & West Face.
North-East Face
We follow the trekking trail up to
Machhapuchhre base camp and then cross South Annapurna Glaciers and moraines to reach
grassy meadows to a rock overhang which can be used as base camp ( 4,200m.). We climb
through the glaciers towards north and pass through grassy shelf to reach a ridge where we
will set up high camp ( 4,900m.). From this camp we continue climbing between the glaciers
and the flank of the mountain to reach a plateau below the North-East Face. We will fix
Camp I on a shelf ( 5,600m.) just below the center of the face. We climb towards right
hand which lead us just below a vertical wall (122m.). We follow a gully on the left and
climb steep steps to gain upper section of the East-Ridge and then to the summit.
