DARJEELING

The name Darjeeling (India) has been associated with the production of quality tea and a journey in one of the oldest cute little Toy Train pulled by steam engine uphill from the plains to Darjeeling, the town in the lap of Mount Kanchanjunga( 8586 m.), the final destination. On the way before reaching its destination, it reaches an altitude of almost 2260 meters. The slopes along the way are veiled with tea plants. The Toy Train that has very recently been declared World Heritage is adored by all who have opportunity to ride in it. The sunrise view from top of Tiger Hill and the sight of the effect of colour over the summit of Kanchanjunga is beyond description. It is a matter to be experienced once in life. The view of Mount Kanchanjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, from Darjeeling is the best. A short trek of Sandakphu – Phalut Region takes you to such places where one can enjoy the colour and fragrance of rhododendrons and other wild flowers as well the 180 degree view of the Himalayas crowned by Mount Everest (8848 m.) and Mount Kanchanjunga (8586 m).

SIKKIM (India)

Small but beautiful, Sikkim is situated in the Eastern Himalayas. This Himalayan State is spread below MOUNT KANCHANDZONGA (8586 m.), the third highest mountain in the world and revered by the Sikkimese as their guardian deity. In May the entire Valley is covered with rhododendron and primuls as these flowers erupt in riot of colours. Tsomgo Lake situated in the Eastern Sikkim at an altitude of 3723 meters is about 40 Kms. away from Gangtok. Between May to August one can see a variety of flowers – rhododendrons, primulas, poppies and irises in full bloom. One can also enjoy yak and pony ride around the serene lake. Sikkim is a natural paradise for nature lovers, conservationists, botanists, zoologists and environmentalists.
