The trekking routes categorized under this title are the most popular in Nepal. These routes are popular because the trails are not too formidable but provide the best chance of viewing the breathtakingly beautiful mountains, opportunities to gain knowledge about diverse culture, flora and fauna,. These are common features of most trekking areas but each area also has some unique specialty that may encourage you to choose one over the other in accordance with your particular interests. 

A. Everest / Khumbu Trek
Everest is the top of the world with its summit piercing the sky at 8848m Popularly known in Nepal as the Third Pole , it casts a mysterious spell on thousands of intrepid mountaineers and trekkers. It has been long cherished dream of people all over the world just to have a glimpse of Mt. Everest . Mt. Everest makes a number of headlines in the world-wide media annually. The region surrounding Mt.Everest is also the best known National Parks in Nepal. It is known as Sagarmatha National Park. Global Adventure Treks offers the following treks in the Everest area to make your dreams come true whatever your time, fitness, budget & interest may be.

1. Everest Base-camp/Kala Pattar Trek ( Lukla to Lukla, 12 days ) Maximum altitude gain 5545m- Trekking begins after a 30 minute flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. This trek goes through Namche Bazar, the famous market town of the Khumbu region. On the way to Namche you will see your first distant views of mighty Mt Everest. Namche and its neighbours Khumjung and Kunde, are home to many Sherpas who have made their names synonyms with high altitude mountain climbing. Namche is a traditional trade centre at the height of 3440 m..People from different villages in this area and even from Tibet gather here for various types of trading, especially on Saturdays for the local market. After having an acclimatisation day in Namche and seeing marvellous panoramic views of snow-covered mountains like Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum kangaru, Lhotse, Nuptse, etc.you will find the awesome beauty is hard to explain in words. You will walk the route traveled by the famous mountaineers of the world for this is the route that leads to Everest Base-camp. Kala Pattar is a lofty shoulder of Pumori, reroute to EBC. From here you will have breathtaking views of Everest and all her wonderful neighbors.

2. Sherpa Village Trek (7 days)- This trip requires return flight Kathmandu/ Lukla/Kathmandu. Trekking starts from Lukla through Namche up to Thame monastery village (3800 mtrs ) and ends back at Lukla. It is less strenuous than the high altitude route described in Option #1.

3. Gokyo Trek (12 days )- Walking up through Namche, trekkers take the route through Khumbjung to Gokyo (4700 mtrs). You can visit the Everest View Hotel -the 4-star hotel set up at the highest elevation in the world and Khumjung monastery on your acclimatization day. At Gokyo it is possible to visit the Fifth Lake on the way to Cho Oyu Base Camp and several other day walks and climb Gokyo RI (5300 mtrs) for spell-binding sunrise or sun set view over Everest. This place is one of the best places in the Everest area to see mountain panoramic views.

4. Gokyo -Chola Trek ( 18 days) Maximum altitude gain 5545m- Lukla- Namche- Gokyo -Chola cross 5260m- Lobuche
( Trek up to Kalapatthar /Basecamp from here is possible)- Tyangbuche to Lukla via Namche is the route this trip follows. This is a strenuous trek. Good weather and snow conditions are needed to cross the ChoLa.

5. Trekking from Jiri Maximum altitude gain 5545m- Jiri is a hill town which is 180 kms north -east of Kathmandu. It takes 8 days from here to reach Lukla. This is an interesting route because the summit of Lamjura Pass (3400m) provides a tempting views of Makalu, Gaurishankar, Everest, Lhotse plus a rout through rhododendron forest that blooms in March -April. You can visit the popular monastery above the beautiful village of Junbesi and learn about Buddhist and Sherpa and Rai culture along the way. The trails in this area are less busy and crowded with trekkers than the route above Lukla. The villages are also less affected by tourism than those higher up in the Khumbu.. The longest trek Jiri -Namche- Gokyo - Chola-Base-camp - Imja valley to Chukhung and back to Jiri usually takes 31 days. Flying out from Lukla is possible and would reduce the time required.
