Sydney.
I look forward to updating this page with the latest news and activities within our
community as soon as possible. All members and friends can look at this web page for
community news and meeting dates.
Please write or telephone me for much needed improvement and any topics that you want me

1. Concept:
The concept of "Guthi"
club has been with the Newar community of Kathmandu since ancient times. It's main
objective was to assist it's members by providing ritual service in birth and death needs
for all family members within the Guthi club. Members in the Guthi club are generally
close relatives and friends.
However, In Australia with provision for the above service done by private business, it is
necessary to organise these services within our own context and rituals. The provision to
formally create a Guthi club overseeing this service for the benefit of all members has
been felt necessary by the Nepalese community. With this in view, a proposal to create
Guthi-Australia with the following general objectives was made.
2. Objective:
# To promote and preserve Newari
culture.
# To assist in cultural and social festivities such as marriage, bratabhanda, e-he etc.
# Assure commitment to members in Birth/and Death crisis needs.
# Assist members with loan and help when the club is financially secured.
# To pool financial reserve for the benefit of its members and charity organisation.
# To be financially self operating using interest and other investment fund activities
# To assist other affiliated Nepalese organisations with fund and social activities.
3. Members:
Although no maximum membership limit
has been finalised, it will be limited.
Membership is open to all individuals who accepts the objects and rules of the club.
4. Fees, Subscription, etc:
A member of the club upon
admission to the membership should pay to the club, a fee of A$50.00. Thereafter an annual
fee to be decided in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) would apply. Tentative AGM date will
be held on the weekend following Diwali.
5. Election of Member:
Five committe members will be
elected every year to overlook the function and objectives of the club.
