HELAMBU With a diverse range of brilliant green valleys,
misty rhododendron forests and distant horizons of snowy peaks, Helambu is the ideal short

unspoilt by tourism. You will experience the Yolmo culture of high mountain villages,
marvel at vistas of lonely high mountains and watch enthralled as the farmers toil in the
fields using hand-made tools and teams of water-buffalo.

RARA TREK
Jumla and Rara lie in the remote
Karnali zone in the north-west of Nepal. The region is made-up of long ridges covered with
temperate forests and alpine pastures enclosing high valleys. Summer rainfall is low, but
winter snow can be heavy and persistent. Since the region is fairly high and free from
monsoon thunder-storms, the summer season is ideal for trekking. Winters are cold, but in
the autumn season, trekking is rewarded with a profusion of alpine flowers.

fine views of the beautiful Rara Lake. From here, it is a pleasant descent to the
meadows on the south side of the lake. The former village site of Rara (3040m.) is
two hours walk along the western bank of the lake. Designated a National Park in

Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north across the valley is
Langtang Lirung. We pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebina, cross a small ridge
and have our first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the
Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being Saraswatikund, Bharab Kunda and Gosainkunda.

Mukut Himal bordering Dolpo to the West. The trail descends steeply over glacial
moraine, which gives way to grassy meadows before we reach Muktinath. This is one of the
most important pilgrimage sights for Hindus. Holy water flows from the 108 carved
spouts surrounding the Vishnu temple in a grove of poplars. Muktinath is also home to many
ethnic Tibetans and holy Buddhists, who come here for the temple in which
fire miraculously burns in a stream of water inside a small but very holy temple. |

MANASLU TREK
Pristine mountain views, rich
culture and genuine adventure sum up the trek experience around the 8156m Manaslu. Opened
in 1992, this area offers a combination of rich culture heritage, unsurpassed beauty and
biological diversity. Beginning in Gorkha, home of the celebrated Gorkha soldiers, visit the ancient palace
of King Prithivi Narayan Shah. Soon after civilisation fades and we pass though ancient
villages, observing the simple agricultural habits of its people. Then we ascend the
Gandaki River valley, fed by innumerable rivers and waterfalls, offering the chance of a
plunge into some bathing pools. From here, the strenuous section begins and yaks begin to
outnumber people in the rocky landscape. In Samagoan (3450m) we visit the glacial green
lake of Birendra, before crossing into mystic Samdo, a mere 15km from the Tibetan border.
Here Tibetan monks inhabit sacred monasteries and combined with the views of Tibetan
plateau against stark white Himalayas makes this is a truly spiritual place. Continuing,
more monasteries await in Larkya Bazaar, along with the biggest challenge - crossing
Larkya La (pass.) This 5213m snow-covered pass demands the utmost respect. Snow-covered
peaks over 6500m tower above as we cross. The descent, once off the snow takes us through
alpine then tropical areas, bursting with ferns, bamboo, pine trees, waterfalls and
aqua-blue green lakes laced with cotton-white beaches. Finally, Manaslu will disappear as
we descend to Beshishar (832m.) This 3 week excursion will leave you with a sense of peace
and respect for the people of Nepal and its cological wonders.

MUSTANG
TREK
Mustang was only opened to trekkers
in 1991. The Department of Immigration issues only a small number of special permits, to
protect the local Tibetan traditions from outside influence as well as to protect the
environment. This semi-autonomous, heavily Tibetan influenced region was described by
Tilman as "fascinatingly ugly country, the more fascinating for being so little
known." Indeed, the trek to Lo Manthang is through an almost treeless barren
landscape, along a steeply undulating rocky trail, from which there are panoramic views of
Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and a range of other soaring peaks.

MAKALU BASE CAMP TREK
This
region is blessed with an incredible diversity of natural beauty and culture. Due to its
isolation and lack of teahouses in this area still receives few trekkers. Sherpas,

and Num , then crossing Barun La (4110m) into the upper Barun Khola Valley for a close
look at Mt. Makalu (8463m). You can oput together even wilder trek by crossing

DHAULAGIRI
TREK
This region is new
territory for trekkers. Trekking off the main paths is not only possible, but can be
immensely rewarding, though you do need a sense of adventure and an increased ability to
deal with unexpected.Geographically, Dhaulagiri region is a land of dramatic contrast. From the near tropicalPokhara valley, steep slopes climb
to snowcapped Himalayan giants.Dhaulagiri 1, the seventh tallest peak in the world, towers
high above the well-trekkedMuktinath pilgrim trail up the Kali Gandaki valley. The vast
massif screens the hidden land of Dolpo to its north west. Following the rivers upstream,
ferns and forests of oak and other deciduous trees and juniper are interesting. Mountain
sides of rhododendron blaze with colour in the spring, and other flowers are abundant on
the trail. Even on high mountain passes above the tree line, tiny alpine flowers can be
found dotting the windswept ground.

DOLPO
TREK
Dolpo is located inside the Shey-
Phoksumdo National Park of mid- western Nepal, behind the Dhaulagiri massif, towards the
Tibetan Plateau. Dolpo remains a truly isolated corner of Nepal: time has stood still here
for centuries as the inhabitants of Tibetan stock continue to live, cultivate and trade
the way they have done since time immemorial. The ecosystem encompasses a wild and
wonderful variety of plants and wildlife, including the blue sheep and snow leopard. A

SIMIKOT
TREK
SIMIKOT - KAILASH - SIMIKOT
TIBET: Tibet one of those extraordinary destination where indeed
adventure lurks around every corner! Adventure on the road is never short on the beautiful
Transhimalayan drive, through mountain, passes, promising a panorama of a cultural and
scenic diversity unsurpassable anywhere.
MANASAROVAR & HOLY MT. KAILASH: Kailash: Mt.Kailash
claimed to be the apex of the Hindu religious axis is also one of the highest mountain in
Tibet at 22,022 feet, and Lake Mansarovar at 14,950 feet is said to be the highest fresh
water lake in the world. Certainly a difficult region to reach due to the variable and
extreme weather conditions. The distance from Lhasa for example is approximately 2000 km.
Only during the last few years have lots of ordinary and not so ordinary travellers, been
able to experience this region. Road conditions are difficult much of the time and we have
to make many preparations to ensure that we have a reasonable chance of reaching Kailash.
We need to bring our own food and camping equipment. Basic lodges and tea-houses can be
found but the plateau is so remote that it is possible to travel for several days without
finding food available.
To travel for days on this remote plateau with the chance encounters of nomads herding
their sheep or yaks is to be transformed into another way of life, to see and become part
of such a devout pilgrimage as shown by pilgrims around Mt.Kailash and Lake Mansarovar is
to put some aspects of our western way of life into proper perspective.
HUMLA VALLEY: In May 1993 The
governemnts of Nepal and China reached on an accord that allowed the first treks across
the border between the two countres. While it had been a route for Nepali pilgrims for
years, foreign trekkers were never allowed to trek from Nepal into Tibet. It has always
been possible, however, to bend or ignore the rules. Though the raison detre for
this trek it theoriticaly pilgrimage to Mt. Kailash in Tibet, the trek through Humla,
Nepals highest, northmost and most remote district, is worth the trek by itself.
The lower Humla, Limi valley and upper Humla Karnali valley ar populated by
Bhitias who trade extensively with Tibet in tradtiional ways that have totally
vanished elsewhere. It is only near Simikot, the district headquarters, that you will
encounter people of the other groups, mostly Thakuri and Chhetris.
