TAAN’s Objectives

1) Develop and promote mountain tourism in Nepal.

2) Contribute to preserve the mountain environment of Nepal.

3) Contribute for the uplift of mountain economy of Nepal.

4) Preserve the rights and promote member trekking agencies.

5) Extend to the best of its ability, help, cooperate and advice individuals interested in trekking.

6) Make a wide search of the new trails and regions feasible for trekking and help His Majesty's Government (HNG) and trekking agencies for its further development.

7) Regularize the facilities provided by member trekking agencies to their staff, including porters.

8) Provide necessary opinions and advises to HMG for the formulation of the rules and regulations related to mountain tourism and facilities and incentives to be provided to trekking agencies.

9) Promote mountain tourism in collaboration with various governments, semi-governmental bodies, domestic and international NGOs.

10) Cooperate with national and international organizations dealing with trekking and mountaineering training for the formulation of practical courses of the study.

Activities

TAAN conducts and participates in various activities in order to achieve its objectives. Some of these activities are of regular nature and the rest take place as and when necessary. The main regular activities of the association are the following:

A. Promotional Activities:

1. To organize different meetings, conference, seminars and talks programs on tourism.

2. To participate in tourism related fairs, marts and conferences within and outside the Kingdom.

3. To submit advise/suggestion on matters relating to tourism promotion to HMG of Nepal regularly.

4. To publish and distribute complementary copy of newsletter, member directory and other useful booklets pertaining to tourism.

5. To establish cordial relations and exchange delegation with organizations of other countries.

6. To support and recommend its members in promotional activities.

B. Environmental Activities:

1. To organize training and workshop on environment awareness courses.

2. To participate and support in the Govt.'s World Environment Day program

3. To organize various environment conservation programs such as Tree Plantation Program, Clean-up Program.

4. To organize various student level competitions to raise environment awareness among the students.

5. To organize Talk Program with a view to educate the concerned and general public about the importance of tourism and maintenance of ecological balance. Talks are delivered by renowned experts on the subject.

6. TAAN T-shirts (with a slogan and a logo for environmental awareness) are sold at the TAAN Secretariat. Proceeds from the sales are used for conducting nature conservation activities.

C. Philanthropic Activities:

1. To raise and deliver the fund for the victims of various disasters i.e. earth quake, landslide, flood etc.

2. To assist the concern in rescue work by sending manpower on mishap, such as bus accident, air-crash, and other accidents.

3. To raise and deliver the fund for the maintenance of bridges and roads in trekking region.
