If you
are entering or exiting Bhutan overland via Phuntsoling, its best idea to take a trip to
Darjeeling and Sikkim. Darjeeling which is also called the " queen of hills"
produces world famous tea and besides, has much more to offer to visitors- the views of
mighty Kanchenjunga,monasteries, zoological gardens etc. Sikkim-the lost Himalayan Kingdom
is also worth visiting.You will visit institute of Tibetology, orchid gardens and Rumtek
monastery. Rumtek monastery is the seat of Karma pa who is the head of Kagyupa sect of
Tibetan Buddhism.

Itinerary
Day 01: Phuntsoling- Kalimpong.
Our representative will meet you at Phuntsoling in the morning
and will drive you to Kalimpong. You will visit the nurseries, viewpoints and some
monasteries of Kalimpong. Overnight hotel.
Day 02: Kalimpong-Darjeeling.
Drive through the tea
gardens with the views of Himalayas alongside. Darjeeling, perched at the height of 2134m
is the most organized hill-resort in Eastern India. In the afternoon, take a relaxing
stroll in the Chowrastea under watchful gaze of the mighty Kanchenjunga range. Overnight
hotel.
Day 03: Sightseeing of Darjeeling
Visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute Museum and the
Zoological Park, Ghoom monastery etc. Overnight hotel.
Day 04: Darjeeling to Gangtok:
Drive through the changing vegetation, besides tea gardens.
There are also few roadside, well-maintained flower gardens. In Gangtok you find bustling
markets filled with local people as the Lepchas, Bhutias and Nepalese. In afternoon
you will be taken on stroll around the town and Lal Bazaar (the Market place). Overnight
in Hotel.
Day 05:
Gangtok Sightseeing
Today we
will be visiting besides others, the Research Institute of Tibetology; famous for its
research activities on Tibetan language and culture, the Phurba-Chorten (Stupa), Enchey
Gompa, Viewpoints of Kanchenjonga range, flower exhibitions and orchid sanctuary
Day 06:Rumtek monastery excursion.
Today we visit the Rumtek monastery,
which is the most popular, and certainly the largest in Sikkm. Other than in Tibet, Rumtek
is the principal seat of Karmapa-the head of Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. After Rumtek
visit, you will have time to take relaxing stroll in Gangtok City. Overnight hotel in
Gangtok.
Day 07: Gangtok to
Bagdogra airport or Siligurhi or Nepal border.
It is 4 hours drive to Bagdogra airport from where
you can fly to Delhi and Calcutta and NJP train station from where you can catch trains to
major cities of India. If you are going to Nepal, Its 5 hours drive to border. We can also
arrange you pick up at the border and extend your trip to Nepal.
