Trekking has been know as traditional way to experience the nature of the Himalaya. In ancient time hermits used to trek all the way from Indian plain to the Himalayas, to achieve their spiritual goal, as Himalaya is the home of the gods. Modern trekking history in Nepal is no long though. Bill Tillman (British) who got the permission from Rana Prime Minister in 1949 is the first trekker in Nepal. Tillman had searched many trekking paths, Everest, Annapurna, Langtang including really challenging high passes, such as Ganjala and over Tilicho lake. Sir Edmund Hillary had trekked in Everest region in 1951 before the British Expedition of 1953. In 1950 a French expedition was launched in Annapurna. After the democratic government had established in 1950, the history of trekking and mountaineering (tourism) has begun in Nepal. In recent years, more than 125,000 tourists come to Nepal every year only for trekking. Which is more than 25% of the total tourists visit the country. The number of the trekkers is increasing year by year.
