Beginning
with a flight into Lukla airstrip, this trek explores the Everest
region thoroughly. The route follows the Dudh Koshi to its source
near the Gokyo Lakes to the west of Everest Base Camp.
A
climb to Gokyo peak (5483 m) offers excellent views of Cho Oyu
(8,154 m), Everest (8,848 m), Makalu (8475 m) and other peaks.
Walking along age-old trade routes, crossing two high mountain
passes including Chuguma La at 5420 m and traversing the Khumbu
Valley is a feat in itself.
This
trek also takes you to the vantage point at Kalapathar, which offers
superb views of Mt. Everest. The return trek is via Tengboche
monastery and on to Lukla.
