The land of legends
Nepal
is a small landlocked country with a diversity of natural and
cultural wealth you will find in few places on earth. The land rises
abruptly from the sweltering Terai plains in the south at 60 meters
above sea level to the freezing heights of the Himalayan in the
north well above 8000 meters culminating in the highest point on
earth, Mt. Everest at 8848 meters - with lush sub- tropical forests,
green hills and valleys in between - within a distance of a meter 200
km.
The
tale of the country dates back to the time when the Gods and
goddesses communed with the mortals. Religion and festivals are an
integral part of every day life here. People still respect centuries
old culture and tradition and history still lives on here among the
numerous beautiful temples, monuments and palaces of exquisite art
and architecture.
This
varied landscape offers a fascinating array of cultural experience,
sightseeing and adventure opportunities.
CLIMATE
Nepal
has four major seasons, namely:
1. Winter: December – February.
Feature: cold in the morning but sunny and pleasantly warm in
the day with clear blue sky. Excellent season for a general Nepal
tour, but it cam be quite cold during treks to Nepal Himalayas and
even snow in areas of high altitude treks.
2. Spring: March – May. Feature: cool throughout the day.
Excellent season for trekking too. A great season for
colorful flowers and birds.
3. Summer: June – August. Features: Gets warm in the daytime
and monsoon rain starts from mid July till August. The monsoon rain
help to cool the city during summer and the wet climate compensates
for the beautiful greenery all around.
4. Autumn: September – November. Features: cool breeze keeps
the country cool throughout the day.
Post monsoon rains could last till late September. Probable
the best season to visit Nepal for a general tour or even for a trek
or rafting tour.
In
general the most preferred time
for traveling in Nepal is from mid-September - right after the
monsoon all the way through April. This does not mean that May
through September is the wrong time to visit Nepal. During these
seasons the beautiful scenery is further enhances by the greenery
all around and Nepal also provides an ideal gate way to Tibet where
these months are the most preferred time to travel there.
