The Pokhara valley is one of the picturesque spots of Nepal. Few places in the world might have a splendid variety of natural beauty crammed into one small area like the valley of Pokhara, the headquarters of Western Development Region. It is known as "Dream Land". It is a Rara combination of the long arrays of snowclad peaks, crystal clear lakes, turbulent rivers with deep gorges and picturesque villages inhabited by simple and friendly ethic people. The most dominant ethic group is the "Gurungs". The Gurungs are one of the main component of Gorkha Soldiers- the Gorkha is known as "the brave" worldwide.

pokhara.jpg (20161 bytes)The beauty of the valley is enhances by its lovely lakes Phewa. Begnas and Rupa, which have their source in the glacier region of the Mt. Annapurna Range of the Himalayas. Pokhara is situated at the lap of the panoramic Annapurna Himal and 200 Kilometers west of Kathmandu, at an altitude of 900m. from the sea level. All major cities including Gorkha within the Kingdom have regular to and from bus services and connect by air as well. RNAC and other private airlines operate 2-3 regular flight, between KTM-PKR-KTM. The flight taking only 35 minutes proceeds all along the western Himalayan range which comes to view through the right hand windows of the plane.

For mountain viewers Pokhara offers the magnificent views of Mt. Dawalagiri, Himalchuli, Machhapuchhre, five peaks of Annapurna and others.

Pokhara is first and foremost a convenient point for mountain-oriented sight-seeing. Mt.Annapurna, literally meaning "the Goddess of Abundant Harvest", lies at a horizontal distance of 40 km. From the valley of Pokhara which is at an elevation of just 900m. The moment you step into nay part of Pokhara including the airport, the first thing that takes you to immediate delight is the gorgeous view of the gigantic mountains. Pokhara offers an excellent opportunity for sight-seeing.

Pokhara is one of the few places in the world to provide such a dramatic views in a sub-tropical setting. Mt. Machhapurchhre for example, is only 28 km. From Hotel on Phewa Lake, and not a single mountain range intervenes between the two. Pokhara’s numerous lakes known as "Tal" in Nepal offer fishing, boating, and swimming. Luxury and comfortable accommodations are available in Pokhara

We have licensed English, French and German speaking guides for the convinces of tourists. We specialized in handing the sight seeing programmes. Pokhara offers an excellent opportunity for sight seeing. Pony trekking facilities is also available in Pokhara.

Sprawling over the north-east side of legendary Phewa lake, west of the airport and the down town area of Mahendra Pul, there are several hotels, lodges and restaurants catering to tourists of various tastes and standards.

A little beyond the south peak in the background lies Annapurna-I (8,091 m). The most imposing pyramidal peak in almost central foreground is Mt. Machhapuchhre. Slightly east and back of this peak lies Annapurna-III which almost looks like the back of a camel.

Between Annapurna-III and the next mountain with characteristic rocky right flank which is Annapurna-II (7937 m) lies Annapurna-IV.

Separated from the main massif of the Annapurnas, one mighty mountain appears on the right; Lamjung Himal (6983 m). Finally in the east Manaslu and Himalchuli can be spotted.

The change of color over the massif from purple to pink to red during the moment of sunrise can easily lift your heart.

Pokhara is a city of fine lakes with crystalline water.

Phewa Tal in the immediate vicinity of the city is Phewa Tal with an island temple dedicated to Goddess Barahi in the middle. With its serene water reflecting the Annapurna range and a nicely preserved forest on the adjoining southern slope, this legendary second largest lake of the kingdom remains a major source of attraction for the visiting tourists. It can be explored in canoes locally known as doongas which are available on rent at several points on the lake. This lake can also be enjoyed by swimming and fishing.

Begnas & Rupa Tal

These twin lakes lie in the north-east to Pokhara valley about 15 km away from the airport. The road to Begnas follows Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway as far as Sisuwa near the police check post and branches off the road towards north. It is possible to take a bus ride to the damside of Begnas from the city.

Begnas and Rupa lakes are less frequented by people than Phewa. Their setting are calmer and more sylvanic. The small hill called Pachbaiya which separates the two lakes can be reached in 30 minutes on the foot from the Begnas bus stop. From a convenient point on this hill you can overlook the twin lakes on either side. A terrific view of the long arrays of mountains is another attraction of this hill. These two lakes provide opportunity for fishing, canoeing, sun bathing and bird watching.

River Gorges

The Seti River carves a deep course throughout the city area of Pokhara from Bagar. The deep gorge can be viewed from any bridge over the Seti River: K.I. Singh Bridge at Bager, Mahendra bridge at downtown and Prithvi Highway bridge near the bus part. Looking down these bridges you can see the white turbulent flow of the Seti through an incredibly narrow cannon about 46 m. below.

Day Hikes

All nearby hills such as Sarangkot, Kahun Danda, Phoksing Danda of Pokhara are equally good for day hikes.
